Date
2025
Location

While at Ryder Architecture, Tom managed, with his team, the delivery of all architectural elements of the new £7m kitchen and dining facility at Rollestone Camp from concept through to completion.
Delivered as part of the Ministry of Defence's wider investment programme to modernise training estate infrastructure, the project provides a high-quality, fully electric catering facility capable of serving up to 500 Armed Forces personnel across two sittings.
The design prioritises operational efficiency, resilience, and user experience, creating a contemporary dining environment that supports the wellbeing of personnel training on Salisbury Plain, one of the UK's busiest military training areas.
In response to the MOD's sustainability objectives, the building incorporates solar photovoltaic panels and battery energy storage to reduce operational energy demand and carbon emissions.
The project formed part of a broader programme of improvements across the camp, complementing new carbon-efficient accommodation and enhanced training facilities, and contributing to the long-term operational readiness, resilience, and sustainability of the Defence training estate.
